The items I need to bring the installation up to code didn't show up. That's okay :) I still have to finish the box. I'm really looking forward to having a working stove! That'll make living aboard much more convenient. Summer is over and it's starting to ...
In the hope of not dying in a fire explosion, I'm bringing the LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) installation aboard up to code. All I'm able to fit aboard my boat are two 3 kg butane canisters. That'll have to do :) Luckily I've found some plans on the intern...
Obviously, we had to continue sanding and scraping, and scraping and sanding and sanding and sraping.... We spent the past 2 weeks just doing THAT. sooooo much fun!

The old mattress in the v-berth aboard Obelix is the original mattress from 1973... yup, it's 42 years old! It's worn out and not at all comfortable to sleep on. It's got to go before I move aboard the boat :)

I finally get to test fit the mahogany slats for the ceiling aboard Obelix! Yay! :) Looks pretty swanky if you ask me ;) And it'll keep me nice and warm once I move aboard the boat and finally become a full-time liveaboard :)
I managed to find a combination oven (microwave + convection) that is tiny enough to fit aboard my boat. As a liveaboard that is going to make a huge difference! Sure cooking my meals in such a tiny oven is going to take some getting use to but I'm sure it...
With Kika still being in Haiti, it was time to get the boat whole again... Just in case I need to come up with a rescue mission !

Up goes the insulation, down goes my courage after discovering it takes much longer than anticipated. Knowing that my v-berth will be much more comfortable this winter is what's keeping me going right now ;) The house still hasn't sold, but I should have a...
A couple of the bolts in my deck-hull joint have started leaking after 40+ years. Luckily cleaning and rebedding them is very easy! I use simple ethanol to dissolve the old butyl tape and rebed using new butyl tape. Good for another 40 years ;)

This video was shot Sunday morning (before getting to the "real" work I had planned that day). I wanted to hold off on using power tools until nobody in the marina was at sleep anymore. The video gives a quick glimpse into some upcoming projects/tasks aboa...
Sanding sucks! I finish sanding the inside of the hull in preparation for putting up stringers and wooden slats (called ceiling aboard a boat). Thanks to the awesome comments on my previous video I've learned that pine is not the best species of wood for t...
I want to add more insulation and also wooden slats in my V-berth. Once I move aboard the boat I want to be as comfortable as possible during the long cold winter. In this video, I remove strips of the old insulation to make room for the stringers I'll be ...
A quick update on some of the projects aboard. I do some prep work for the stuff I'll acturally be doing aboard the boat next weekend. And I get to enjoy cold water thanks to my Isotherm "convert your icebox into a fridge" kit.

I head up to check on Obelix for the first time after getting back from the US. In this video, I talk about the five projects/tasks I want to get out of the way before moving aboard the boat. The house still hasn't been sold but I'm so excited to become a ...
Desiree is back in town after doing some freelance stewardess work in the Bahamas. The last time she saw the boat, it was multi-colored from sanding through 50 years of deck paint! Now Atticus is primed with it's first coat, and the next step is filling pi...
The chain locker is about as done as it'll get before I leave for the US. Also, lighting strikes and splicing mooring lines.

Glassing in the mini bulkhead and the main bulkhead. I'm hoping to put the finishing touches on the chain locker next weekend! Then, it's time to go sailing!
I want to see if I can get a better air circulation inside the boat. My primary goal is to try and minimize the temperature difference between the air at the cabin sole vs. the air at the cabin top. I've read good things about those Hella Marine Fans so I ...
