Season Finale - 2,340 Miles by Solar Power
This video marks the end of my sailing season. I visit Vonitsa before heading into a marina in Preveza where the boat will rest for the winter.
Looking back, it has been an incredible journey of 2,340 nautical miles, starting just outside Venice, sailing down the entire Croatian coast, back into Italy, and finally into Greece, heading past Corfu to end in Preveza.
Every mile was powered by the sun, without plugging in once. It has been a season of challenges, quiet passages, and unforgettable places, and I am already looking forward to what comes next.

Sailing Electra
In late 2021 we bought a 1976 Catalac 9M catamaran sight unseen that had been wasting away on land for years. Flew to Europe to go check it out and discovered the engines were seized, the wiring a death trap and every through hull valve crumbled when touched. I'd been building ebikes and scooters for years and decided I'd repower it as an electric. My wife and I spent 4 months peeling away all the rot, and pulling out all the wiring so we could start again from scratch. Eight months of very hard work in some icy cold weather and the boat was finally ready for the water. It now has two 6kW electric outboards, 3200W of solar and a 14.4kwh lithium battery bank. We've taken it from Croatia where we bought it, to Venice and then all the way through Croatia, back to Italy and now to Greece where we are today. We run everything off solar, the motors, cooking, making water and heating it, we even have a washing machine and dishwasher! We love this boat 🙂
