In this episode, the crew of Nordhavn 57, Noeta, does some maintenance on their Sea Chest.
A sea chest in a marine context is a compartment within a ship's hull that serves as a central intake point for seawater, supplying it to various onboard systems like engine cooling, hydraulic thrusters, and air conditioning. It acts as a manifold, drawing water through a single or a few large openings in the hull rather than multiple individual inlets. This simplifies the plumbing and allows for easier maintenance, including the installation of a single strainer to filter debris. But it can also cause some issues.
