We tackle the stringers in this episode. They are added structural supports for the bottom planking as well as added surface area to fasten the planking to the hull. For the most part getting these up was a big pain in the butt! They are long and awkward making it hard to see one another at opposite ends of the boat. Once we were down to two our moods were on the up and up. Knowing that stage of the boat was close to completion gave us great joy!
As progress on the boat is picking up it is getting really weird putting together videos from months back and seeing just how much further along we actually are in the present moment. This video footage is from the month of June and now we are working on the deck in the month of November. Each stage we can check off the list is getting us one step closer to the water again. It feels that the stages we have left to do are going to be a lot easier and faster since we’ve pretty much done similar projects already with some of the restorations we’ve been involved in. If there is one thing I’ve learned it is that the second time around is always easier. But don’t tell Garrett that because he’ll already be thinking about building boat #2!
