Hey guys! We’ve had no issues with major shoaling while going down the ICW until entering North Carolina. After running aground a couple of times while entering areas that have shoaled pretty badly, you better bet we’re keeping an extra close eye on those navigation buoys, channel markers and our depth finder!
We took solace in hearing that this is a very common thing and were told by some fellow sailors that “If you haven’t ran aground in your sailboat, then you haven’t gone down the ICW!” 🙂

Carolina Beach Mooring Field:

– 9 mooring balls available in 14ft of water
– accommodates boats 26-55ft
– we heard the anchoring basin was removed, though we did see a couple boats anchored in front of the mooring balls
