Sailboat Haul Out. We're SUCKERS FOR PUNISHMENT!! Cyclone season is almost over and we need to get ready for our season of sailing East Africa! It’s that time of year again that we need to haul out our sailboat and clean our bottom!!
We decided to do the job ourselves, I mean how hard can it be....? I couldn’t have been more wrong! We must be suckers for punishment!!
It was the hardest, most physically draining 4 days of our lives! Firstly you have to power pressure hose all the muck off the hull and scrape off the barnacles, then comes the sanding... A 42 foot sailboat has a very big bottom! We ended up looking like Smurfs!
Needless to say, it was a family affair and we all got stuck in.
In this video we show you how to haul out at Zululand Yacht Club and how to prepare the hull for antifouling.
