Finally I get to light the stove!
Update: Apparently what I experienced is quite common. The first time the stove is lit too much diesel can enter the burn chamber and cause the stove to get very hot. The stoves are designed to handle this heat. The fact that the stove turns red hot is not dangerous at all. I should be able to remove the soot on the windows easily.
