How do you defend against pirates? And what weapons do we carry, if any? Is it OK to have guns on board? Piracy is one of the top subjects we get asked about.
In this clip we discuss piracy and our experience of it, and offer some advice on how to limit the risks. We also talk about weapons and whether you should arm yourself when sailing in high risk areas.
A couple of notes on the clip: Jamie refers to a boat in the Andaman Sea, but he meant the Arabian Sea (between Oman and India); and Liz said we hugged the east coast of the Red Sea when she meant the west coast. Other than that, this Q&A session has a number of pointers that may help other yachties who are worried about piracy on the high seas.
