We, the Dutch Sailing Family, are sharing our life as we sail around the World. In 2022 we bought our dream boat, a used Lagoon 420, gave up our land life, and started living on the sea. We hope to circumnavigate the earth, and we look forward to sharing our adventures with you, as well as helping anyone else with the same dream to make it happen! The third episode of my Adventure to learn to ride a foil board!
It’s still not easy at all. In this episode I am finally on top of the board a few times. And then you notice how different the balance is compared to a normal board. I have been into ‘regular’ kitesurfing for 7 years now, but this is such a different game! You really are starting again from the beginning. Everything takes so much more concentration that even just flying the kite properly can sometimes feel difficult again!
In this session I am still using the board without any straps, the idea was to be as safe as possible. But using just a loose front strap will make things so much easier, which I will discover in the next session..!

The spot is Fuwairit Beach, Qatar. Right in the Middle East where I’ve lived for some time now. Amazing conditions for a big part of the year, let’s say October until June!
