FUEL TRANSFERS & DOLPHINS! ⚓ Finding the Cruiser Shrine Tree 🌳 at San Juanico (San Basilio)
The journey to the remote reaches of the Sea of Cortez begins with preparation! In this episode of Noeta, we’re getting ready for a week-long off-grid adventure to the beautiful San Juanico. But before we pull the lines, Pat gives Alexa a critical lesson in trawler maintenance: how to perform a fuel transfer on a Nordhavn 57. Understanding the fuel manifold and transfer pump is essential for any long-range cruiser, and today, Alexa is taking the lead.
Once the tanks are balanced and the John Deere engine is purring, Alexa takes the helm and maneuvers Noeta off the docks of Marina Puerto Escondido. We head four hours north into the heart of the Baja wilderness. Upon arriving at the iconic Cruiser’s Shrine, we add our own piece of Noeta history to the collection—a rite of passage for all Mexico cruisers.
The magic truly begins when we launch the kayaks. We found ourselves completely surrounded by a massive pod of dolphins dancing in the crystal-clear water. It’s a perfect reminder of why we chose the liveaboard life. From technical boat systems to breathtaking wildlife encounters, this is what trawler cruising is all about!
