DIY Electric Sailboat Motor Conversion - Ep. 10 [ Sailing Ixion ]
Sailing Ixion
Sailing the world, that's the goal. We thought we were ready but we ran aground. We're into our refit 2.0, Ixion will be better and more prepared than before and will we begin out journey sailing the seven seas. It may be only be a Catalina 30, but it's a massive journey. We've been taken by the serenity and freedom of being at sea and now have set ourselves on a course which will lead us across seas and braving the oceans of the world to share ourselves with all of you and explore how the peoples of the world choose to live. Join us as we sail across the world, documenting distance ports in search of building human connections. Your contributions will enable us to produce better videos, upgrade to blue-water boat, reach more people, and leave the world a little bit better than how we found it. We're not looking to tell only our story, we want to connect with people around the world and help tell their stories too. We're looking forward to sharing our adventure with all of you!

Now that we finished the DIY electric boat motor conversion and most of the new wiring, it was time to install our new Tesla lithium batteries.
In order to install the new batteries, we needed a box to hold them. So after building the brand new box, we measured and prepared to install, only to discover that it didn’t fit. Watch along to see how we reacted and eventually solved the problem.
Other than the batteries, only a few small electrical items remain to complete our new electrical system. With our new batteries and new electrical system we will have a substantial amount of power, and be able to go off grid for a decent amount of time. Sailing around the world off grid, it’s the dream. With all the work done, Ixion was almost a complete electric sailboat!
