In this episode we continue our hop down the Exuma island chain, taking care of some important to-do’s as we go: A huge load of laundry and the ever present task of finding wifi good enough to upload a video!
Theres no prettier place to take care of these chores though and it’s always fun to discover new places – It’s our favourite aspect of cruising (tied with making new cruiser friends :)).
Now in mid February we are finally starting to see the occasional day with lighter wind forecasts and after MUCH anticipation have the opportunity to fly our new code zero.
There’s always a boat project going on in cruiser life, many unexciting, but upgrading our sail inventory to include this bad-ass, super versatile and easy to use gennaker on a furler was easily the best addition we’ve made in a long time (though arguably in line with our new windless!). Our boat only holds 20 gallons of diesel in the main tank so the having the ability to continue sailing in light air offshore is essential. Handing the sail is a breeze since we added a continuous line furler.
After our two trans-Atlantic’s we decided that having an expanded sail inventory was a top priority for us if we want to continue making long offshore passages (which we very much do) so seeing this project through it’s completion and then having the chance to practice with our new sail in the beautiful Bahamas water has been fantastic.
