Sailing the world, that's the goal. We thought we were ready but we ran aground. We're into our refit 2.0, Ixion will be better and more prepared than before and will we begin out journey sailing the seven seas. It may be only be a Catalina 30, but it's a massive journey. We've been taken by the serenity and freedom of being at sea and now have set ourselves on a course which will lead us across seas and braving the oceans of the world to share ourselves with all of you and explore how the peoples of the world choose to live. Join us as we sail across the world, documenting distance ports in search of building human connections. Your contributions will enable us to produce better videos, upgrade to blue-water boat, reach more people, and leave the world a little bit better than how we found it. Catalina Smile Fix finally reaches its conclusion with the fiberglassing of the bilge. This diy project was one of the biggest we’ve done to date, but this sailboat will no longer need to worry about the Catalina smile.
In our previous videos, we removed the keel bolts, removed the wood coring, and got ready to fiberglass. This week, we grind out the bilge to make sure it’s ready for glass. After templating, we begin cutting the fiberglass, and installing it layer by layer.
Also, we completely layout the process we followed to fix the Catalina smile that Catalina Yachts put out for sailors years ago so they could solve the problem on their own. With the completion of this project, we can moved on to what lies ahead and continue fixing our wrecked electric sailboat.
