Highly functioning cruising sailboats are truly a work of art. They require so much time, effort, knowledge, and organization if they are to effectively do their job for thousands of miles of rough seas and hard use. There are so many systems that must work in harmony and it’s only a matter of time until every single one of them stops working. So the highly functioning cruising Sailboat needs regular maintenance and improvements, if it’s going to stand up to the difficult task ahead. Sometimes this is accomplished by tackling massive projects that have huge affects on our lifestyle, but most of the time this is accomplished by incrementally putting in the work, one small project at a time, over the course of years. Now one of the best things about sailing long distances is that you get to do that work in some pretty cool places. We’ll be spending the winter in Turkey and last week we spent some time getting to know this unique country. But now it’s time to get into project mode so that come spring, Atticus will be ready for another season of heavy cruising.
