We didn’t plan it, but we ended up getting beginner horseback riding lessons while we were boondocking in Texas. RV living can be a bit surprising, I suppose. Here’s how it happened…
We found a great spot for boondocking the RV in Texas and the owner also has horses. We didn’t ask to ride the horses – but Molly has a way about her that tends to attract gifts and such. The owner saw Molly petting the horses through the fence and asked if she had ever ridden horses before. She hasn’t. None of us have ridden horses before. When the owner offered to give us some beginner horseback riding lessons, we had to take them up on the offer!
Sharla, James, & Nolan were gracious hosts. We had a great time getting to know their horse, Roni – who took very good care of us and was super gentle. I certainly had some nerves as I climbed onto the back of a 1000lb animal for the first time, but it ended up being one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had. Now, I’m anxious for another opportunity to ride horses again!
Lastly, we wrap up this video by licking a building constructed of rock salt. Stick around and observe Tambi pressing her bare tongue against a salty protuberance. It’s really something.
