Woken by an urgent air horn blast in the night, the steering wheel spins uselessly, and we find ourselves adrift at the mercy of the ocean waves. The disconnected rudders slamming back and forth as the steering chain has snapped in half. Ocean sailing is more about boat maintenance and fixing skills than sailing skills at times.
