It has been a week like no other so far, in the wind powered land speed world record campaign, with Horonuku, finally reaching its destination at Lake Gairdner in South Australia. When Glenn Ashby said last week “Lets get ready to go” he meant it. The trigger was pulled, and the wheels were in motion literally.

Thousands of square meters of sails were lowered in a joyful din this Saturday-evening at the end of a breathtaking closing day for the first part of the Voiles de Saint-Tropez 2022. The particularly virile conditions of this final day had led the committee and the teams from the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez have turned the program upside down from early morning to take advantage of a tough but more manageable window at the start of the morning.
After four races at the Royal Cup 52 SUPER SERIES Scarlino regatta in Tuscany Italy, there have now been different winners in every race. Takashi Okura’s 2021 circuit champions Sled, are tied with Quantum Racing, at the top of the leaderboard while Andy Soriano’s Alegre, today moved up to third overall.
Emirates Team New Zealand’s land yacht ‘Horonuku’, has had its first day of sailing on Lake Gairdner in South Australia, with pilot Glenn Ashby behind the wheel ,in his bid to eclipse the 2009 wind-powered world record speed of 202.9 kilometres per hour.
400 Windsurfers will be at the 2022 World Windsurfing Championships in Palermo Sicily which started this week. It was an amazing day 1 when the huge number of windsurfers hit the starting line.
The waters of the Golfo di Follonica Tuscany, continue to deliver excellent racing conditions for the Royal Cup 52 SUPER SERIES Scarlino. Winds gusting over 25 knots were registered for Race 5 of the ten race series..
Glenn Ashby made the most of an opportunity to get his head into the high-speed game, with a day driving laps, with the Toyota Gazoo Racing team, out at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park south of Auckland.
Doug DeVos’ Quantum Racing won the Royal Cup 52 SUPER SERIES Scarlino title in Tuscany Italy, their third regatta triumph of the five event 2022 52 SUPER SERIES season. They overturned a one point deficit to triumph by five clear points ahead of Takashi Okura’s Sled.
