World on Water July11 25 52 Super Series Portugal. IMOCAs La Course Des Caps. Charal at Speed, more

This is your weekly global sailing highlights show, the World on Water, for July 11 2025.

After an exciting, nail biting, edge-of-our-seats conclusion to the 2024 season which marked 12 glorious years since the world’s leading grand prix monohull circuit started in Barcelona in 2012, the 52 SUPER SERIES again follows the preferences of its passionate, committed owners in 2024 with an itinerary which is a mix of popular proven locations which offer a good variety of racing conditions. For the first time the circuit visits Newport, Rhode Island, one of sailing’s real epicentres where two regattas will be raced, hosted by the historic, famous Newyork Yacht Club.

It's neck and neck racing around the British Aisles. A close and steady match between Association Petits Princes–Queguiner and Vulnerable, captured during La Course Des Caps. Sailing side by side

For the second successive day of racing at Puerto Portals 52 SUPER SERIES Sailing Week, the 2023 circuit champions Platoon Aviation were boat of the day, top scorers among the 13 boat fleet from nine nations. With a fourth and a first Harm Müller-Spreer's German-flagged team extend their margin at the top of the standings to 11 points as their high level of consistency starts to bite, suggesting they now really do have the measure of their potent new boat which they launched in the spring.

Marin Le Roux, Onboard Reporter, onboard Charal, captured some amazing drone footage during the Course des Caps race. Watch the Charal Imoca fly over the waves in perfect conditions, pure speed and power, from one of the most iconic boats in the fleet. The Banque Populaire, du Nord Boulogne-sur-Mer Cape Race, is a new event on the Imoca circuit, starting and finishing in Boulogne-sur-Mer. The race wich started on June 29 2025, with a mixed crew, including a women, men, and a media player, counts towards the Imoca Globe Series championship. Participants covered nearly 2,000 miles around the British Isles, over a period of 5 to 8 days.Lou Berthomieu, Tom Dolan, Nicolas Andrieu: a promising crew with Jérémie Beyou for the Cape Race. For his return to competition after the Vendée Globe, Jérémie Beyou is competing in the Cape Race around the British Isles. A challenge he will not face alone as the race is taking place with a crew, and has formed a close-knit team to face it. With the passion of Lou Berthomieu, the knowledge of the terrain of Tom Dolan, the know-how of Nicolas Andrieu and the vision of Marin Leroux, their On Board Reporter, the Charal Sailing Team has all the assets to be among the major players in this race.

Sixty crews spent “race-eve” at Olympic Marine poring over rigging, sails, electronics and provisions before tackling the 605-mile AEGEAN 600. Italy’s all-female double-handers Elisabetta Maffei & Alice Baldon felt ready after a shakedown on 25Nodi, the fleet’s 6.50 m pocket rocket, while U.S. skipper Chris Hemans assembled a Euro-American squad aboard the Cookson 50 VARUNA to chase his long-held Aegean dream.

Τhe fleet of Figaro3 of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Tour left Cagliari to face the 165 miles that will take them to La Maddalena. This is the penultimate stage of the tour that will end in Genoa on July 11th where we will discover the winners. In the meantime the Wasp and Wing categories have started the warm up in La Maddalena with a lot of enthusiasm and energy and are preparing for their spectacular regattas.

As the Rolex TP52 World Championship passed its midway point today in Cascais, Portugal it is the French underdogs on Paprec, led by ocean racing legend Loïck Peyron, which has taken the overall lead as the 2025 season’s pinnacle event heads into what promises to be a fabulous weekend of big winds and seas on the Atlantic.Jean-Luc Petithuguenin’s crew, a few of whom are amateurs with normal ‘day jobs’, now narrowly overshadow American Magic Quantum Racing the mighty US team, seven times world champions, on 4th July, by two points with five races still to sail.

After passing the Temple’s exciting start, the fleet switched to offshore mode. Light winds on the leg towards Milos put course records out of reach this year and west of Serifos the fleet compressed as daylight faded. July 7th, early afternoon, the fleet leaders reached the entrance to the caldera at Santorini. The caldera’s shifting breeze rose and fell, dividing the fleet once more and the fight continues toward the second half of this challenging edition of the race.
