Global Sailing Highlights World on Water March 01 24 Charles wins ARKEA, RORC Caribbean 600, SailGP

Highlights of what happened globally in the sport of sailing in the last 7 days.
It’s been a big week for the leader of the Arkea Ultim Challenge Brest, as a huge storm rolled through the finish area and Charles Caudrelier had to stop in the Azores and wait until it’s safe to finish. On Monday it was his 50th birthday. He resumed racing on the weekend.
Meanwhile, in second place, Thomas Coville has crossed the Equator, whilst the race’s three other sailors, are climbing the South Atlantic.

Maria Erdi of Hungary clinched her first-ever European championship title, adding to her accolades as the reigning World champion from the previous year in The Hague.

If this continues at all their events, will they rename Alcatraz to the DeLorean Rock, the Statue of Liberty to, the Pontiac Park etc.
On the water the local team was able to take out the event as their rival skipper on the New Zealand boat was away on “Daddy Duty’. In the end it was Australia against Denmark. Tom Slingsby came out on top and downed the obligitory “Shoey”.
