It’s been a full year since I first landed here in Mindelo, Cape Verde. And it’s taken me this long to discover some of the best spots and most interesting people. It’s also Natacha’s one year anniversary, and she makes a splashing comeback. While she was away, I did not stay aboard longing for my friend, I went and made new friends who introduced me to the most entertaining bistro bar in town called La Bodeguita de Mindelo. As well we discovered some more hidden coves with Peixe and company just a few miles away from Mindelo Bay. For those sailors who just stop here a few days before crossing the Atlantic, they sure missed the best night & day spots in Mindelo worth discovering.

On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin.
