Getting to really know a place is when you have gotten to really know the people. For me it’s most notably Peixe. One of the first guys I met who helped me fix my outboard motor and invited us to his home over six months ago. He’s with again a journey to Tarafal for Easter. There we meet more dear friends we have gotten to know, and they invite us to a big birthday party. We have to get back and the return journey is arduous, but easy with Peixe as crew. He’s looking into hauling out my boat in Mindelo. But I we have to wait. So me and Nat decide to go to a sheltered cove just a few miles south of Mindelo that’s known to locals, but not to passing sailors. We go and discover the hidden cove few know about.

Earns his Swiss offshore sailing license and refits his boat. Then sails alone from the south of France along the Spanish coast to Tangiers Morocco. On to the Canary Islands where he learned how to manage in extreme ocean conditions. Continues south to the Cabo Verde Islands, land of the most beautiful people ever. He learns to speak the local Creole language so to better understand the Cape Verdean culture. To enjoy life, feel young and love again. He recovers from hip replacement surgery and sails on to the great African continent where few sailors dare to go. His story is one of an old geezer living the life of a full time sailor with all it’s perils and pleasures. So hang on, eat, dance, laugh, love and discover the world with him and his boat Galopin. It’s their Winded Voyage. A real living adventure series.
