We Sailed Into The Middle Of The Ocean | Boat Life Ep. 49

Crossing the Atlantic Ocean was an adventure we had been talking about ever since we bought Penelope back in February of 2020. Ocean sailing, on the other hand, has been on our minds for far longer. We’d spend nights talking about sailing into the unknown… asking ourselves how we would deal with facing the ocean in all her vastness? how would we deal with different worst-case scenarios? But at some point, the preparation portion of our story ended and it was time to go for it or let the ocean dream go.

Even though Lou and I have known each other for over 10 years, during these seven and a half days in the Atlantic, we learned how to rely on each other in such a profound way that only comes out of pure necessity. I’m so grateful for our time out there because it’s changed our relationship for the better and I know that we will always have that experience to draw on in difficult times when we need extra strength.

And we’re also so grateful for each and every one of you, for this community, and for this opportunity to share our adventure with you. I know we’ve been gone for quite a while on this platform, but we are so thankful for your love, support, and patience while we’ve been having the wildest, most insane summer of our lives (and also battling a LOT of technical difficulties that made editing impossible).

We have so many more updates to share with you, but those will have to wait until next week. Until then, we hope that you fall in love with the ocean while watching this video, and as we did out in the Atlantic, and gain an entirely new respect for her power and her beauty.
