The First Week With Freja

People always say that getting a puppy is a big responsibility, and we are definitely starting to see why. Waking up in the middle of the night, multiple training sessions a day, vet appointments, constant potty training, it is a whirlwind of activity but we are loving it! This week we tried to capture what our time with Freja has been like–bit by bit we have been clawing our way back to a normal routine, but every day is different with this little one : )

Part of the beauty of getting a dog is the fact that caring for another life form helps you stay present in your life and not get too distracted by digital devices. In preparation for raising a working line german shepherd, we read a bunch of books by the monks of skete which I would highly recommend to anyone thinking about getting a dog, or hoping to train their dog a bit more. The books have a very practical but also spiritual focus, which we have been trying to embrace in our daily training sessions with Freja. We still have a lot to learn, but its been pretty incredible to see who quickly Freja has been learning and growing. You blink for a second, and somehow shes already little bigger, fiercer, faster, and stronger!
