SUPER Insulating Our Shipping Container (R32!)

Spray foam was something that Lou and I were completely against when we started this build. It was toxic, hard to install, and intimidating, and felt like if we just went with what we knew with hemp wool insulation we could guarantee a safe space to live in…. well sometimes it’s essential to keep an open mind and allow your plans to evolve as you learn more information.

After talking with a friend up here who has built a bunch of shipping containers, we realized that spray foam was the best bet for managing the moisture issue in the containers. But then the issue arises: how do we install it on top of a mountain with a road that no professional is willing to come up with?

That’s when Lou had to commit to learning ANOTHER new skill. 100s of hours of research later and the day finally came for him to go for it. Like everything else we do, it was a learning process, but I am in awe of how professional the final result turned out!!! Now this man can be a carpenter, a welder, a roofer, a chimney installer, a dog trainer, a tractor driver, and also a spray foamer 🙂
