This is a really special one – capturing that feeling when you finish a MASSIVE project! Lou has been building our shipping container home for about a year now and it is finally done. He learned so much during this experience from how to spray foam to how to weld. He grew his carpentry and electrical skills. There were many moments where I felt nervous that we were stretched too thin, thought we might have bit off too big of a project, especially with a young child, but somehow throughout it all Lou managed to keep charging ahead to make this dream come true faster than I thought possible. I am beyond grateful to have our own home in the woods. A place that we can be connected to nature and feel the peace that I’ve only felt when living in spaces that we’ve built with our own hands. There’s something so magical about looking at the desk or a wall or a window and thinking about the moment that it was brought to life by my husband.
Thank you all so much for joining us for this shipping container build, and a special big thank you to all the people who came out and helped, even in the middle of winter! We’ve got a long list of future projects and some of them include expanding the garden, installing a spring box, maybe a sauna?! But for now I just want to take a few days maybe even weeks to bask in the glory of having our very own tiny home 🙂
