MY BIGGEST FEAR...our van breaks down

Fear is a funny thing – sometimes it’s rational and sometimes it’s completely irrational. In this case, Lou’s biggest fear of our van breaking down irreparably is actually pretty rational. We live in a 40-year-old Mercedes 307d which is already on to its second engine and we think its seen over 400 thousand kilometers. However, we’ve been very lucky so far with our biggest problem yet being a broken water pump. So when we got stuck in Serbia for 5 days with a broken exhaust system, Lou finally had to face this fear up front and personal.

I hope you enjoy this short video that gives you a glimpse inside our experience as full-time van lifers. Sometimes things go according to plan and sometimes you have to get creative. We ended up having such a lovely stay in Serbia. Meeting such kind people. And we’re actually really happy that of all places to break down Ody chose this country. The mechanics were talented, hardworking and so kind.

What is your biggest fear? Is it rational or irrational? I think my biggest fear is that while traveling I can’t be there for my family and friends if they need me, so I guess like Lou mine is pretty rational.
