Her New Home (connecting our shipping containers round 2)

So one of the most interesting parts of learning to weld and work on shipping containers is that the frame of the container presents a lot of opportunities for easily attaching stuff, like the fence we installed in today’s video. BUT, whenever you do serious welding on the exterior shell, it tends to burn the paint on the interior and create a terrible smell inside, which means that we need to wrap up all exterior work before we can insulate and finish the interiors.

We’ve gotten a ton of questions asking why we don’t connect the three containers more, and this hopefully will explain things a bit better. Having a fenced-in area for Freja after 1.5 years of owning a working line gsd is a dream come true–keeping an eye on her is a ton of work, and there are a lot of jobs on the homestead (chainsaw work, tractor work) where she just really shouldn’t be around for.

We are also in the process of building a little roof above this pen. And, any building professionals out there are probably wondering why we didn’t properly attach the cedar slats with bigger gauge nails–never fear, they are on their way, but we wanted to get the frame up while we had our friend Noah helping out because these are the kind of jobs that go so much faster with 2 people : )
