Thank you to everybody who has supported the creation of these video and has shared this journey with my sailboat Karl with me so far. It would not have been the same without you.

This episode was filmed in 01 / 2021.

Welcome to Untie The Lines! my name is Nike, I bought an aluminum 37 foot sailboat in Panama in 2013 that I named KARL. I spent a good year refitting it, mostly by myself and with the help of awesome friends, and then (mostly) solo sailed my sailboat around the western Caribbean.

In 2016, I crossed the Panama Canal, had a major engine break down, a near sinking experience and a serious foot injury which got me stuck along the Pacific coast of Central and South America.

In this Episode, I am anchored next to the mouth of River Cacique. A little rain shower seats my plans to Paddel up the river and I share with you what I usually do on rainy days. Baking some fresh buns, doing the dishes, editing videos or crafting some collected beach rope into pretty baskets.

Once the rain clears, I jump into my Kajak to explore the Cacique river. My plan is to paddle upstream for 2-3 hours with the rising tide, have some lunch up the river and then float back downstream. A not unexpected but still surprising encounter makes me turn around half way through 😂. But still, it was a great little adventure and a great calm anchorage to hang out in.

Enjoy and Ahoy,
Nike & Karl
