Sailing through the Acceleration Zone
Our island-hopping journey through the Canary Islands continues as we set sail from Tenerife to La Gomera. The crossing takes us through one of the well-known acceleration zones where the trade winds funnel between the islands — giving us a fun, fast sail before reaching the calm wind shelter of La Gomera.
We drop anchor in Laguna de Santiago, our first glimpse of this unique island, before discovering a hidden bay that truly takes our breath away. Towering cliffs, lava-carved caves, and a canyon that leads to stunning views — this place feels untouched and full of magic. Along the way, we meet a couple living off-grid in an old fishing bay, a reminder of how many ways there are to live a meaningful life connected to nature.
We are a sailing couple living full-time on our Hallberg Rassy Rasmus, documenting our life on the water from the Mediterranean to Morocco and now through the Canary Islands. Untie the Lines is about living simply, following curiosity, and finding beauty in the small, authentic moments of life at sea.

Now, I’m exploring a new chapter, having jumped aboard my partner’s Hallberg Rassy Rasmus with Boga and his Australian Kelpie, Jango. Together, we face the unique dynamics and challenges of sailing as a couple, balancing off-grid life, sustainable sailing, and the demands of long-term cruising.

Hi, my name is Nike. With my videos I would like to inspire others to grab hold of their dreams and make them reality. I have always been drawn to the ocean and fascinated by the humbling experience of living close to nature. I had a faint idea that I was made for another lofe than the one that the people around me expected me to live. One day, I dared to follow this instinct and bought a neglected sailboat in Panama that I named KARL. My life turned into a wild rollercoaster of challenges that pushed me way beyond my comfort zone and moments of unknown bliss and inner peace. Over the past years, I had to learn many new skills and tunred my old silboat into a once again sea worthy vessel. My floating home enables me to live off grid in remote places, powered by the sun and moved by the wind. Join me on my jounrey exploring life`s options in the persuit of happiness and purpose.
