Our Moroccan Adventure Road Trip He Thought Was a Bad Idea (even thought he LOVES Morocco!)

After months of living and sailing on our boat, we left Santana behind in the marina and traded ocean waves for winding roads—setting off on a three-week Morocco road trip with our two dogs. From the ancient streets of Fes Medina to a breathtaking Todra Gorge hike, from Moroccan tanneries to a cozy Moroccan cooking class, this episode captures the first half of a journey that was anything but smooth sailing.

Floh wasn’t exactly thrilled about leaving the boat. Even though he loves Morocco, he had some solid reasons not to go—budget concerns, tricky logistics with the dogs, and more. I convinced him anyway. But as the Middle Atlas mountains rolled by and we wandered through Ifrane, past cheeky monkeys in the Cèdre Gouraud Forest, I started to wonder: Did I make the right call?

00:00 Intro: Our Route and…Will I regret this?
01:10 First Challenge: Getting the rental car
03:20 Quick stop-over in Meknes visiting the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail
04:20 Visiting Fes: exploring the Medina, searching for the Tanneries and marveling at the Al-Attarine Madrasa
07:42 Bonus: Moroccan cooking Class with our host Soukaina (Tajine b l’barkouk / Tagine with lamb and prunes)
09:04 Driving south across the Middle Atlas past Ifrane aka “Little Switzerland”
09:36 Hiking in the Cèdre Gouraud Forest with cheeky Berber Monkey
11:09 Yummy streetfood: Roadside Kofta snack
11:30 Driving to the Todra Gorge with stop over in Ziz-Canyon
12:48: Hiking the Todra Gorge
15:33 What I learnt from this trip about adventure road trips as a couple

This isn’t just a travel vlog. It’s a story about navigating differences, discovering new layers of a country—and each other—and learning that not every mood swing means the trip is off course.

Join us as we dive into the colors, chaos, and calm of inland Morocco. It’s part adventure, part relationship reflection, and all heart.

This is Morocco travel vlog meets travel couple vlog, with a touch of Moroccan culture, Moroccan cuisine, and the beautiful unpredictability of life on the move.

Join me on an inspiring journey that began with buying and refitting my Reinke Super 10 sailboat called KARL. Facing the challenges of solo sailing as a female sailor, I navigated the highs and lows of single-handed sailing while tackling DIY boat repair projects, from engine fixes to full boat refits on a budget. My life aboard was a mix of adventure and reflection, shaping an independent woman’s story of resilience, personal growth, and embracing the sailing lifestyle.

Along the way, I became an ocean conservation activist with In Mocean, stumbled across my dog Boga, and discovered the joys and challenges of sailing with a dog. Now, I’m exploring a new chapter, having jumped aboard my partner’s Hallberg Rassy Rasmus with Boga and his Australian Kelpie, Jango. Together, we face the unique dynamics and challenges of sailing as a couple, balancing off-grid life, sustainable sailing, and the demands of long-term cruising.

If you’re interested in remote sailing adventures, authentic sailing stories, and the realities of living on a sailboat, this channel offers a glimpse into the world of DIY projects, the sailing lifestyle, and life’s transformative moments on the water. Follow along for inspiring stories that reflect on the beauty of sailing, personal growth, and chasing dreams—one wave at a time.

And always remember: if I can do it, you can do it, too!
