Welcome to Untie The Lines! my name is Nike, I bought an aluminum 37 foot sailboat in Panama in 2013 that I named KARL. I spent a good year refitting it, mostly by myself and with the help of awesome friends, and then (mostly) solo sailed my sailboat around the western Caribbean.
In 2016, I crossed the Panama Canal, had a major engine break down, a near sinking experience and a serious foot injury which got me stuck along the Pacific coast of Central and South America.
In this Episode, I might have anchored my friend Maria’s sailboat a tiny bit too close to the shallows and she pays me back with a wasabi challenge. Paul, Luca, Maria and I go on a quick island excursion before we head back to the Marina to pick up more stuff.
In total, we ended up spending nearly three months on Joana and it’s time to head back to the Pear islands where Paul and my sailboat are patiently waiting for us.
Oh, and there was this thing called Xmas as well, but who wants to see Xmas in April, so I decided to skip that.

Hi, my name is Nike. With my videos I would like to inspire others to grab hold of their dreams and make them reality. I have always been drawn to the ocean and fascinated by the humbling experience of living close to nature. I had a faint idea that I was made for another lofe than the one that the people around me expected me to live. One day, I dared to follow this instinct and bought a neglected sailboat in Panama that I named KARL. My life turned into a wild rollercoaster of challenges that pushed me way beyond my comfort zone and moments of unknown bliss and inner peace. Over the past years, I had to learn many new skills and tunred my old silboat into a once again sea worthy vessel. My floating home enables me to live off grid in remote places, powered by the sun and moved by the wind. Join me on my jounrey exploring life`s options in the persuit of happiness and purpose.
