WE Sail to the Clearest Waters in the Tuamotus | Episode 252

Sailing to the Clearest Waters in the Tuamotus with WE Sail

In the heart of French Polynesia lies the mesmerizing Tuamotu Archipelago, a string of atolls known for their turquoise lagoons and crystal-clear waters. Among these enchanting islands, one spot stands out to sailors from WE Sail: Taha.

The Decision to Revisit

As their final season in French Polynesia drew near, the crew of WE Sail pondered over whether to venture into uncharted territories or revisit some of their previous favorites. Their love for diving and exploration led them unanimously to choose Taha, one of the islands they had visited before, but knowing that the experience could be even more remarkable.

The Magical Arrival

Their return to Taha was met with an enchanting reception – the water was so clear it appeared to defy reality. They marveled at the sight, knowing they were in for a week filled with unparalleled underwater experiences.

Diving into Paradise

The crew of WE Sail wasted no time in jumping into the crystalline waters. Armed with diving gear, they set out to explore the vibrant coral bommies teeming with life beneath the surface. This dive was nothing short of epic, revealing a breathtaking world that left them exhilarated.

Unparalleled Clearness

One of the most striking aspects of Taha’s lagoons was their exceptional clarity. It surpassed any other location they had dived in, offering a mesmerizing view that extended deep into the abyss.

Daily Dives and Experiences

Understanding the precious nature of their time in Taha, they planned to dive daily. This commitment allowed them to fully appreciate the island’s allure, from its tranquil surface to the thriving marine life below.

An Emotional Journey

Each dive brought new encounters and adventures, fostering a deeper connection with this remarkable part of the world. The crew’s joy was palpable as they reveled in every moment of their time in Taha.

Parting Thoughts

The week spent in the Tuamotus, particularly at Taha, proved to be a highlight of WE Sail’s final season in French Polynesia. The crystal-clear waters and incredible marine life left an indelible mark on their hearts and reminded them just how lucky they are to have experienced this magical corner of the globe.

Encouragement to Follow

If you’re drawn to the allure of adventure, crystal-clear waters, and the thrill of discovery, consider a visit to Taha or any of the other breathtaking locations in the Tuamotus. Don’t miss out on an opportunity to experience paradise as it was meant to be seen – from the surface and below.

On this weeks episode of WE|Sail, we set sail and hop along to the next Tuamotu island and have one of the best sails in a long time.

There are 78 islands that make up the Tuamotus archipelago, and we have visited around a dozen of them, all offering a similar experience, but Tahanea particularly has some of the clearest waters in the world, certainly in our experience... We're not exactly sure why this one differs from the others, maybe the number of passes it has, which allows more flow of open ocean water coming into the lagoon, or maybe even the directional position of the passes, but it was important for us to come back to Tahanea so we could escape in the waters below.

As this is our final season in French Polynesia we discussed the option of either sailing and exploring to new islands or going back to the ones we have been to before. It was unanimous decision that we wanted to revisit Tahanea AND DIVE!!!
