Exploring a Fijian Village + When Anchorages Go Wrong | Sailing Fiji | EPISODE 331
Welcome back to another episode of WE|Sail.
Last episode, we left you hanging. Warren’s nav panel project hit a snag—one component failed, and we had to wait weeks for a replacement part. Well, it finally arrived, and today Warren’s finishing what he started.
But that’s not the only thing happening in this episode. We’re exploring our first Fijian village, meeting locals, and learning about life beyond the resorts and tourist spots. We do a quick Sevusevu ceremony—presenting kava to the village as a sign of respect—which grants us permission to anchor and explore freely.
We also bushwhack our way up a hill for an incredible view… until Warren has a complete meltdown over a spider. And just when we think we’re settled for the day, the anchorage conditions shift. The winds pick up, and we’re forced to move around to the other side of the island for better protection. What could’ve been frustrating turns into one of the most beautiful afternoon sails we’ve had in Fiji—stunning scenery, perfect wind, and a reminder that sometimes the unexpected moments are the best ones.
This is the reality of cruising—boat projects, village visits, spider panic, and always adapting to whatever the weather throws at you.
