How to Bake Bread on a Sailing Boat (In the Middle of the Atlantic)

Baking bread in a pressure cooker on the stovetop, instead of using the oven.

Bread recipe we use:

Flour – 3 cups (360 grams) ratio 2:1 white to brown
Water – 1 1/4 cup freshwater (~290ml)
Yeast – 2 tea spoons of yeast (6 grams)
Salt – 1 teaspoon (3 grams)
Sugar – optional 1-2 teaspoons
Splash of olive oil

Tips:
Don’t make loaf too big it touches top of pressure cooker.

Raise loaf tin off bottom of pressure cooker using something metal e.g. pastry cutters.

A layer of salt in the bottom of pressure cooker can prevent burning of pan.

We have an alcohol stove which doesn’t burn nearly as hot as gas/paraffin, so be careful with those stoves to cook on the lowest heat possible.
