The Beginning of Our Long Sail to Grenada for Hurricane Season. Catching a Blue Marlin on Day 1.

Tula’s Endless Summer Embarks on an Epic Sail to Grenada

After a year of exploring, learning, and upgrading their vessel, Tula’s Endless Summer is excited to set sail for Grenada as they prepare for hurricane season. Their journey promises a mix of excitement and challenges as they navigate through the waters from Florida to the Caribbean.

Capturing a Thrilling Blue Marlin on Day One

As their adventure begins, Tula’s Endless Summer experiences an unforgettable event on the first day – hooking and catching a massive blue marlin. This marks their first-ever billfish catch and an exhilarating start to their journey.

Dealing with Insurance Challenges

Ahead of their long-awaited voyage, Tula’s Endless Summer faces significant challenges with insurance. They encounter steep premiums and restrictions that potentially derail their planned route to Grenada via the Eastern Caribbean, the ABCs, and Panama. Through persistence and luck, they find an affordable broker who brings a viable quote just in time for them to make a swift decision.

Maintenance and Preparations

Before embarking on their epic voyage, Tula’s Endless Summer makes crucial maintenance preparations. They inspect the sea strainer, attend to shackle loosening, clean barnacles from the boat bottom, top up fuel, and more – ensuring a smooth sailing experience.

Navigating the Bahamas and Beyond

With the challenges of insurance sorted and their vessel prepped for sea, Tula’s Endless Summer begins navigating through the Bahamas. Their journey includes nighttime escapes from thunderstorms, island-hopping, trolling for fish, exploring new territories, and adjusting to a routine that will sustain them during long offshore sails.

The Power of Perseverance

Tula’s Endless Summer proves their resilience in the face of adversity, demonstrating a strong will to overcome challenges. Their dedication and determination shine through as they successfully address issues like barnacle growth, shark encounters, fuel consumption, and more.

Ready for an Epic Adventure

As Tula’s Endless Summer concludes their preparations, they are ready to embark on a truly epic sail to Grenada. Their journey will not only be a test of skills and determination but also a testament to the adventurous spirit that defines their channel.

After a month of boat repairs and upgrades we load up with food and fuel and work our way out of the hurricane belt. The fish are biting and the storms are brewing. Grenada is our destination for hurricane season as that is one of the places far enough out of the statistical hurricane belt that insurance will allow us to go and still cover the boat for a named storm.
