We Escape The Clutches Of Suva City | Ep 177 | The Sailing Brothers

After spending 20 days in the bustling city of Suva, we’re ready to get back on the open waters and continue our sailing adventures. In this episode of The Sailing Brothers, we finally bid farewell to Suva City and set sail westward towards Pacific Harbor, eager to explore new horizons.

Refit and Supplies in Suva City

Our time in Suva was spent not only enjoying the local culture but also taking care of our boat, Atlas. We took advantage of the opportunity to perform a small refit and ensure that all our supplies were well-stocked for the upcoming leg of our journey. It was during this time that we met some interesting characters, including a salvage guy who sold us a brand new winch for a mere £7, an absolute bargain.

Navigating through Reefs to Pacific Harbor

With everything prepared and our excitement building, we set sail from Suva, heading west towards the stunning coastal town of Pacific Harbor. The journey took us through some treacherous waters, navigating around reefs that posed a constant challenge. In one particularly difficult moment, we were worried about encountering 40 knots winds for 24 hours straight – an experience we wouldn’t shy away from if it ever presented itself.

The Beauty of Pacific Harbor

After a successful passage, we arrived at our destination, the beautiful Pacific Harbor. Located on the main island of Fiji, this area provided us with some much-needed shelter from the East wind and gave us a chance to relax before moving onto our next adventure.

Enjoying Local Delicacies

Our time at Pacific Harbor was spent not only resting but also trying out local dishes like bananas and custard, a favorite from our childhoods that we managed to recreate using powdered ingredients. The delicious meal took us back in time and provided comfort amidst the exciting new challenges of our journey.

Upcoming Adventures

In the upcoming episodes, we’ll continue to explore the west coast of Fiji’s main island, visiting cultural sites and enjoying the beauty that this tropical paradise has to offer. Keep an eye out for our next installment where we’ll embark on a race against the setting sun to find a safe anchorage. Until then, stay tuned and join us as we make waves across the Pacific Ocean.

In this weeks episode we manage to escape Suva City in Fiji after what seems like an eternity locked into the solar project. Its time to head West to new destinations
