The crew of the Sailing Vessel Meri spend time in The Central Abacos. We have a visit from Marjorie’s brother Tom and sister-in-law Laurie, visit one of Conde Nast’s the top ten beaches on the planet, each some excellent cracked conch, deal with a major boat job and an injury, and get in a great day of kiteboarding topped off with a beach bonfire. You will also get a super brief history of the Bahamian people with a local story.

The Meri Crew
The Meri Crew: Travel adventure on the high seas, islands, bays, rivers, etc. with Doug, Mj and our family and friends aboard Sailing Vessel Frolic, our new sailing catamaran. We have moved on from our beloved 41' sailboat, Meri, but are still cruising to new places and experiencing new things. For 2024 we will finish up the Eastern Caribbean. Then maybe head north to Nova Scotia or Newfoundland again in the summer, or if things go well we may sail all the way around Newfoundland. All plans right now are still very loose because, well that is just how we like to travel and live. There are so many places near and far we have not been yet. Sailing, snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing, kayaking, yoga, gunk holing, cooking, kiteboarding, windsurfing and wing foiling are staples while we are aboard Frolic. Other times we love water skiing, snowboarding and snow skiing, flying, knitting and other stuff.

Great adventures! We pick up in Valdez with some hiking and checking out the town. Then we drive up Thompson Pass and spend a few nights in that area. Finally we take "the worst road in America" to McCarthy and check out Kennicott.

We start out our summer of adventure spending time in Wrangell St. Elias National Park and Preserve. We get the kayaks out and do a little fishing, then move down the road to Copper Center to fish for some reds, sockeye salmon running up the Klutina river...
The Meri Crew heads to Alaska!
We are taking a break from the ocean. We felt like we had deferred a bunch of land based things we wanted to do and now is the time for one of those. We are spending the summer cruising around Alaska on our little land-yacht.
