Sailing on a Catamaran through the British Virgin Islands

The Caribbean’s British Virgin Islands have a variety of charter sailing companies, including; The Moorings, Dream Yacht Charter, Sunsail, Horizon Yacht Charters, Conch Charters, BVI Yacht Charters, CYOA, and many others. We, however, used our timeshare and booked with Tradewinds Luxury Vacations through our RCI affiliate. It was amazing!

We literally sail to all the main islands in the BVI’s (except Anegada – look for our other video on that island) and snorkel and scuba dive some of the best wrecks in the BVI’s.

Arrival Day
We check-in at Nanny Cay Marina and after meeting our Captain AJ and First Mate Roxy and the other guests (Mike, Kathy, Tony, Marlene, Jason, Patricia, and Gregory) we set sail to magical Dead Man’s Bay off Peter Island where the first delicious dinner and cocktails were served on board.

Cruising Day 1
After a scrumptious breakfast, we go snorkeling and then set sail for Cooper Island. After a delicious lunch, we cruise around to Manchioneel Bay, where we snorkel, kayak or spend some time ashore, on one of the BVIs most beautiful beaches.

After lunch, we head over and take a short trip by dinghy to The Baths – the most renowned, natural feature in the BVIs. The Baths are a collection of giant boulders that form spectacular pools and grottos. The huge boulders and rocks form a maze that leads to Devil’s Bay Beach.

We then sail to Long Bay for dinner and more drinks.

Cruising Day 2
The next morning I snorkel, while others scuba dive the Kodiak Queen wreck. We sail south of Mosquito Island to another Dead Man’s Bay for snorkeling, then off to the famous Michael Bean’s Happy Arrr! in Leverick Bay. We party all night and laugh until it hurts.

Cruising Day 3
We sail to Eustacia Island and after lunch we have a leisurely, downwind sail to Marina Cay, with its brightly colored villas and tropical flowers, it is, undoubtedly, the most spectacular cay in this region. We snorkel on Diamond Reef and then enjoy an evening dinner and stroll around Scrub Island.

Cruising Day 4
Before breakfast, we set sail for the island of Jost Van Dyke and the picturesque Diamond Cay. We relax a little at the Soggy Dollar and then I almost get killed by a falling tree at Foxy’s Taboo, then we sail to Norman Island where I night snorkel with Jason.

Cruising Day 5
Before sunrise, we hike to the top of Norman Island. After lunch, onboard just a stone’s throw from Norman Island, and beside Pelican Island, is a wonderful place named “The Indians”. We all snorkel here in one of the BVIs most popular spots. Then we motor sail over to “The Caves” and snorkel there for a while. Little Harbor off of Peter Island is where we anchor for the evening.

Cruising Day 6
Lots of snorkeling here the next day, seeing lots of turtles, squid, rays, and pufferfish. We also explore the “Amway House” that was decimated during a hurricane. After lunch, we set sail for the home base in Tortola – just in time for more powerful sundowners! We go ashore to a nearby restaurant, for our last dinner on this trip, where we dance through stilt-walkers legs and take pictures of Mike’s famous, Dollar Rings!

Departure Day
One last tasty breakfast on board, and then we gather our belongings, as well as our wonderful memories of a week in the beautiful British Virgin Islands.
