A few people have messaged us asking ‘but why this?’- and to be honest, it’s a really good question. With minimal larger boat sailing experience, fresh out of university and with our whole lives ahead- why did we pick a boat over a house?
So join us in this vid to hear a bit about why we ditched the traditional route of getting a mortgage and securing a property, and instead, have chosen a life of maintenance, risk, travel and freedom.

Tŷ (a house) & llu (of numerous host). We are Becka and Zach and we want to give you the warmest welcome to the Teulu Tribe. Since meeting in 2018, it has always been our dream to buy a sailboat, and after lockdown and coming out of university, this idea seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane. However, we worked hard, gained experience and in March 2022 bought our dream sailboat, a 1987 Colvic Victor ketch. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on. So hop on board, join our Teulu and lets see what this ‘living’ business is all about.
