Rigging a Cunningham (Downhaul) for Serenity's Main Sail
We've always struggled to get serenity's main sail down, and we were heading out on to the Atlantic. So we need to make this process more safe. We did what's called rigging up a "Cunningham" or "downhaul". Chris bought 100' of Lisa's favorite colored line (obviously purple)... Then ran it through a spare block and tied it to the head of the main sail. Then ran it through a spare port on one of the clutches. So, now the main sail can be pulled in from the helm! No more going on deck.
