Winter is coming and we need to prepare the boat as we will be leaving for a few months soon. We don’t want to leave everything exposed to the weather so we are taking everything down and off. In this first video we’ll show you what we do to get ready for winter boat life in Valencia. We show you a few “boat hacks” along the way, here’s our list of little tips you’ll find throughout the video:
* Mark reefing lines and halyard with Sharpie at the reefing points to better understand how far to drop and pull when reefing underway
* Small first aid kit and line cutter knife are handy to have in the cockpit
* Petroleum jelly may extend the life of old zippers
* Baby oil may extend the life of spray hood windows
* hook padlock on outboard tightening screws to keep them from unscrewing/stealing
* mix oxalic acid yourself to save money and to have control over concentration
* Petroleum jelly may keep your rigging terminals clear of water and rust build up

*Who are we?*
We are a European couple from Germany (Alex) and the Netherlands (Mandy), sailing around the Med on our 36ft sailboat. Six months ago we started our journey in Greece with little sailing experience, figuring things out as we go, not really knowing what we’re doing.
