List of all safety equipment required for your boat 2. Pen and paper, or a smartphone app to create a record of your findings 3. Time (about an hour) How To Perform A Boat Safety Audit 1. Start by checking life jackets and safety lines. Ensure they are properly maintained and serviced annually. 2. Inspect flares, fog horns, searchlights, first aid kits, and medical bags for proper functionality and service history. 3. Check fire extinguishers – Briken has oversized ones for added safety. 4. Locate and inspect the fire blanket and fire alarm. 5. Ensure an emergency tiller is available in case of main tiller failure. 6. Look at radar reflectors, throw bags, safety knives, jack lines, life rafts, horseshoes (for overboard recovery), danbuoy (distress signal), and additional flares. 7. Check all lights onboard, including torches, and replace batteries if necessary. 8.
