Drifting at Sea – Sailing Adventures in Charleston, SC
Sailing enthusiasts who follow our adventures know that we take on a lot of exciting projects. In our recent foray to the beautiful coastal city of Charleston, South Carolina, we certainly didn’t disappoint! We got our hands on a classic sailboat and headed out to sea. There’s nothing quite like the salty breeze on your face as you traverse the Atlantic waves, but when you do it with a purpose, it takes on an entirely new level of exhilaration.
We were aiming for the Morris Island Lighthouse initially. However, due to rough weather in the Atlantic, we had to readjust our plans quickly. But sometimes the best discoveries happen by chance! Upon landing at one of Charleston’s exposed low-tide beaches (accessible only at low tide), we discovered an untouched piece of paradise surrounded by Fort Sumter. The sand bars were teaming with local sea life and were bustling with other watercraft.
As we navigated these waters, the busy maritime activity around us was awe-inspiring. Charleston’s harbors are teeming with boats, from commercial cargo ships to luxury yachts, and it all adds to the unique experience of boating in this area.
With such a vibrant cityscape just inland, our sailboat voyage allowed us not only to take in the natural beauty but also to marvel at the European-style architecture that Charleston is known for. One key landmark we explored was The Battery & the Yorktown Enclosure, which has become something of a fixture on some of our previous videos.
As part of our exploration around the coastal areas, we encountered a little wildlife. Imagine our surprise and delight when we saw a dolphin leap parallel to the water surface. Such encounters only add to the magical allure of our boating adventures.
In addition to enjoying all this, we also took the opportunity for some adrenaline-pumping driftwood longboarding, riding with every incoming wave that lifted us closer towards the beach. And after hours on the open sea and navigating busy waterways, it’s times like these where one truly realizes how the great outdoors offers something different every time.
After several days exploring all Charleston has to offer – from the bustling marinas to untouched nature reserves, there’s never a dull moment. After our epic sojourn, we’ll be setting sail for new adventures in Florida’s Keys.
We owe much of our success and joy in these sea expeditions to your support. Thanks for joining us on this journey as subscribers, patrons and viewers from Vimeo to YouTube. We hope you enjoy the thrill and beauty as much as we do! Stay tuned as there will be more action-packed episodes featuring new discoveries coming up next!

With the plan to visit the lighthouse again, this time by boat, thwarted by high wind, we settle on a beach only exposed at low tide. We hang out with the locals, view a historic fort ( from afar), cruise the harbor and its amazing line of yachts and head to the beach for some fun, this time without the Sun without the sun.
