She's a 1996 Gozzard 44, built by one family in a small Ontario shop that's been doing it by hand for over 40 years, and she's one of the best bluewater boats almost nobody talks about. In this video I'll show you exactly why I'd put her up against cruisers costing twice as much.
Most of the great names you grew up admiring got bought, gutted, or moved offshore. Gozzard didn't. Ted Gozzard walked away from a production yard in 1981 to build the opposite: low-volume, semi-custom, roughly nine months a boat, with the owner in the shop watching their own hull come together. I break down what that actually buys you, the inside-out design, the nearly two-inch hull, the engineering that makes her track and take a sea, and why a boat built this way holds value and goes anywhere while the boat-show fleet depreciates the second it splashes.
