Welcome back to the exciting world of Sailing Zatara! In this episode, we’re diving deep into some major life changes happening aboard our beloved boat. As Jack and Kate prepare to leave for their adventurous six-month stint in Tonga, Keith and Jennifer decide it’s the perfect time for a family getaway to Key West.
Major Life Changes on Zatara
The chaos of preparing for Jack and Kate’s departure has reached new heights, and the family knows that they need a break. So, they’ve planned a weekend road trip to the picturesque city of Key West. This will be their first time visiting, making it an even more special getaway.
Prepping for Key West
In true Zatara fashion, there’s still work to be done before they can hit the road. Keith plans to fix a stubborn door that’s been giving them trouble, and the family has to make do with cold showers since their hot water heater is on the fritz.
A Detour at the Museum
While in Key West, the family makes a detour to the History of Diving Museum. With Jack and Kate’s recent scuba certification, it seems only fitting to explore the rich history of underwater exploration.

As they delve into the fascinating stories and artifacts, they start to wonder about their own future adventures. Zatara may have some exciting voyages in store for them upon Jack and Kate’s return!

Meanwhile, back on Zatara, work continues on upgrading their engines. The crew is now focused on installing the exhaust hose and vetus system, while also addressing other maintenance needs.

The engine alignment is proving to be a challenge, but with persistence and precision, they’re hoping to have everything in place by the end of the week. Could we see Zatara’s engines fired up soon?

Though excited about their upcoming adventures, Jennifer admits to feeling a tinge of sadness as the family prepares for Jack and Kate’s departure. Worries about their safety on the other side of the world weigh heavily on her mind.
