SEVERE GALE FORCE 9 APPROACHING. Running for shelter sailing in Arctic waters, we do everything we can to prepare Florence to survive the gale but is it enough?
Dealing with bad weather when cruising in an area which is new to us is very different to when sailing in home waters we know (we rarely sail in waters we already know). Here we share some of our thinking and how we are continually re-evaluating where is the best place to weather a gale and the preparations we make to keep us and Florence safe in bad weather. Oh and we enjoy some spectacular sailing and scenery as well which makes it all worth it! 🙂

We are a British couple who set off in 2016 to sail around the world on our 37ft monohull. Thousands of miles and multiple oceans later, the adventure is still ongoing.
