Maiden Voyage: Our RESTORED BOAT’S first journey after 3.5 years! — Sailing Yabá 207

This day has been a long time coming for the couple behind Sailing Yabá. After years of dedicated work restoring their beloved boat, it’s finally time to say goodbye to the shipyard and set sail. Their first stop is the scenic Itajaí River anchorage – a place they’ve been eyeing for its calm waters, stunning views, and easy access to nearby shops and amenities. With a mix of excitement and apprehension, the couple begins loading up Yabá with everything from essential supplies to extra diesel tanks. <Fastening the Diesel Tanks and Additional Storage
The couple makes use of their newly crafted wooden diesel tanks and adds a sturdy plywood table to Yabu00e1’s bow. They also install a ladder for easy swimming access, demonstrating their meticulous attention to detail even before leaving the pier. The Final Goodbyes at the Shipyard Bidding farewell to the shipyard and the people who have become like family over the past three years is an emotional moment for the couple. Despite their excitement to embark on this new chapter, they still feel a sense of attachment to their home-away-from-home and the team that supported them. Yabu00e1’s Maiden Voyage Begins
As they cast off the ropes and set sail, their dream becomes a reality. They navigate their way down the Itajaí River towards open waters – an experience that has been years in the making. Celebrating 100,000 Subscribers

💙 Who are we?
We are Ben and MP!
Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.
