Arrival at Bali After a Challenging Journey from Timor Leste
In this thrilling episode of ‘Sailing with Thomas,’ we join the captain as he completes his 628-mile journey from Timor Leste to the enchanting shores of Bali, Indonesia. The passage was filled with beautiful sailing moments and unique challenges, including strong currents and crossing the famous Lumajang Estuary.
Embraced by Fellow Boaters in Hidden Anchorage
After navigating through challenging waters, Thomas finds himself embraced by the local cruising community. He arrives at a hidden Anchorage on Bali’s west coast that is not frequently visited by boating enthusiasts. This secret paradise offers stunning views and serenity.
Obtaining Necessary Documentation
The completion of Thomas’ journey isn’t without its setbacks, as he faces issues with missing ship health book documentation. This document is vital for visiting Indonesian waters, and without it, re-entry into Indonesia becomes difficult.
Exploring Bali
Afraid this paragraph exceeds the character limit. Please check the full article for details on Thomas’ exploration of Bali.
628 nautical miles is a long sail with only one sail left that's working!
Sailing nonstop from Timor Leste to Bali Indonesia with strong ocean currents and not many sails left after my eventful sail earlier this year. Hopefully, there is a sail loft in Bali that can help me fix one of my main sails and even my genoa. Bali the island of Gods has been on my top 10 list for a long time and I can't wait to explore. But also this time I was delayed by customs and immigration due to some errors from last time in Indonesia. The bureaucracy for yachts entering or leaving Indonesia is quite a task and I really recommend using an agent.
With great assistance from my friends here and even in Jakarta everything finally worked out smoothly and I can now enjoy Indonesia for a long time.

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
I'm a sailor with a YouTube channel and not a YouTuber. Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser mostly solo, making videos whenever we have time for it.
Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me.
Even though this is season 6 on YouTube I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 6 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience as a captain in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.
