Navigating Bali’s Touristy Traps Despite its beauty and friendly people, Bali can be a trap for those who aren’t aware of its culture. Thomas talks about the need to balance enjoying tourist spots with respecting local customs to truly experience Bali as “The Island of Gods”. By adopting these attitudes, even brief encounters with locals can blossom into lasting friendships. The Art of Capturing Bali’s Essence Throughout the episode, Thomas shares insights on how to capture the essence of a place through photography and understanding its cultural context. The right frame can reveal stories that speak volumes about Bali. Closing Thoughts and Call to Action As the episode concludes, Thomas invites viewers not only to admire Bali’s beauty but also to respect its culture and people. For those intrigued by this island’s magic, there is no better time than now to plan your own adventure.Bali is the island of Gods, and maybe more spiritual than most first-time visitors know. Visiting a new country with different cultures, religions, and traditions can sometimes be quite a challenge. In this video, I am sharing how I succeed in making friends despite huge differences in culture and background. Bali is a Hindu-dominated Island, still, it belongs to Indonesia a Muslim nation. Even though the Island of Gods is extremely friendly and welcoming towards tourists, it is easy to misbehave and act disrespectful especially because the party factor is so high. This might mislead you to forget about their heritage and spiritual traditions. I always try to learn and understand my destination's culture and even pick up some of their language to show respect and genuine interest in the nation I visit. This enables me to easier make friends wherever I go, no matter the differences in religion or culture.

ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
I'm a sailor with a YouTube channel and not a YouTuber. Sailing around the world in a Bavaria 55 Cruiser mostly solo, making videos whenever we have time for it.
Comfortable at sea with 4 decades of sailing experience and hundreds of thousands of miles behind me.
Even though this is season 6 on YouTube I did not make that many videos in the beginning, and obviously not from my entire sailing life. Before full-time sailing 6 years ago, I sailed several seasons in the Mediterranean, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I had my first sailboat at age 7 and have been sailing and racing ever since. Also, more than 10 years of experience as a captain in Search and Rescue at sea in Norway.
