I spend all day repairing other people's boats... then come home and work on my own until dark.

This week was a mix of wins, surprises, and a few expensive lessons...
⚓ We install new equipment at the boatyard.
⚓ I explain what was really causing a customer's "failed" bilge pump.
⚓ Violet rides along as we battle California traffic to pick up our long-awaited transmission.
⚓ Back on UV, disaster strikes when my shore power connection completely melts down after pushing it way too hard.
⚓ We tear into the damaged wiring, replace the inlet with a SmartPlug system, and finally get safe shore power back.
⚓ Along the way we discover more about how UV was actually built—including a surprise hiding inside the deck.
I also wanted to give you guys a little more insight into where I work. I'm incredibly lucky to work with a shop that believes every repair should be done the right way, whether it's on a million-dollar yacht or a hardworking commercial boat. That kind of craftsmanship means a lot to me, and it's something I try to bring back to UV every single night.
The transmission is finally here, another huge piece of the puzzle for getting this old ketch back in the water. There's still a mountain of work ahead, but every project gets us one step closer to sailing around the world.
And of course... Violet is along for the entire adventure.
